ArmInfo. On recent days, in DEPO gallery of istanbul a large photo exhibition runs dedicated to Ani, the ancient capital of Armenia. The project is the result of efpublic and scientific organizations employees in Turkey, Norway, Armenia and Russia.
Armen Ghazaryan, a well-known historian of architecture, art history PHD, a member of Russian Academy of Architecture and Building Sciences, spoke about this event at his lectures held at Armenian Museum of Moscow and the Culture of Nations centers. The exhibition set the pictures taken in Ani by Armenian and Turkish photo shooters were presented.
The press release of the exhibition stressed that the project is intended to show an example of international cooperation in the matter of preserving cultural monuments.
Armen Ghazaryan told the museum visitors about the main buildings of Ani, about the history of excavations and works of the famous scientist - archaeologist Nikolai Marr, about the problems of reconstruction and preservation of architectural monuments.
Visitors were very pleased by photos taken by Ghazarian himself, showing the appearance of Ani unfamiliar to the general public, the process of conservation of the ruins of the Surb Prkich (St.Savior) Church, the little-known objects of this medieval Armenian capital of the late 10th-11th centuries, and the surrounding monasteries.
