ArmInfo. With the purpose of revealing the expediency of the activity of the "Armenicum" Clinical Center, increasing the effectiveness of patient treatment, and stimulating the international recognition of the "Armenicum" drug, a working group was created with the participation of specialists from the Ministry of Health, leading physicians, representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the center itself.
As Minister of Health Levon Altunyan noted in his conversation with ArmInfo correspondent, it is too early to speak about the results of the working group's activity. "But if it turns out that due to the money saved for the maintenance of the building and the administrative staff of the Center, we will be able to increase funding for the treatment of patients, preclinical and clinical trials of the" Armenicum "drug, as well as to increase its international recognition, we will go for it," explained Altunyan, adding that in this case patients will undergo treatment in other medical centers. At the same time, he stressed that if the effects and expectations from optimization are small, everything will remain as it is.
As for the approach of Ministry of health to "Armenicum", as an effective drug, it, according to the minister, has not undergone any changes. "We still consider this drug to be very effective in the treatment of HIV/AIDS and many other diseases, moreover, we are now doing everything possible to increase its consumption and keep production. If we manage to raise additional funds from optimizing the expenses for the maintenance of the center" Armenicum "they will be directed to preclinical and clinical trials of the drug in order to ensure its international recognition," the minister summed up. It should be noted that the preparation "Armenicum" during clinical trials has proved itself not only as a tool for the treatment of HIV/AIDS, but also for hepatitis C, many system diseases, diabetes, etc. Clinical trials of the drug have been conducted since the beginning of the 2000s.
