ArmInfo.Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, Head of the Observation Mission of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Eduard Sharmazanov in the Mariinsky Palace of St. Petersburg met with the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the city Vyacheslav Volodin.
According to the press service of the National Assembly of Armenia, during the meeting the sides stressed the importance of the Armenian-Russian century-old strategic relations. It was also noted the need for a democratic election of the President of the Russian Federation. According to Eduard Sharmazanov, it is important that the election processes in all CSTO countries be democratic.
The meeting was also attended by RA MPs Gagik Melikyan, Tachat Vartapetyan and RA Permanent Representative of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly Hayk Chilingaryan.
On February 12 of this year, by the decision of the Chairman of the CSTO PA Vyacheslav Volodin, the Vice Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Eduard Sharmazanov was appointed the Head of the Observation Mission of the CSTO PA in the forthcoming presidential elections in the Russian Federation on 18 March 2018. Today, March 17, the Russian Federation declared a day of silence. On this day, any pre-election campaigning and political advertising are banned. The presidential election will take place in more than 97.3 thousand polling stations established in Russia, and 401 polling stations abroad, including in Armenia.
