ArmInfo. On March 14, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received the head of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia, Konstantin Kosachev.
During the meeting, Sargsyan noted that he was glad to meet with Kosachev a few weeks after the Munich conference and to exchange views on topical issues of international security, as well as discuss the agenda of the Armenian-Russian allied relations. According to the president, the Armenian-Russian relations are characterized by active dialogue and effective cooperation at all levels - economic, military, military- technical and humanitarian.
Stressing that the constant and consistent strengthening of Armenia's strategic relations with Russia is one of the priorities of Armenia's foreign policy, the president added that Armenia wants to build constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation with all integration structures that play an important role in the region. In this context, the President thanked Konstantin Kosachev for his impartial position on Armenia's foreign policy on various platforms.
In the development and strengthening of the Armenian-Russian bilateral relations, President Sargsyan attached great importance to interparliamentary relations and expressed confidence that the joint meeting of the parliamentary committees of the two countries will take place in a constructive atmosphere and the adopted decisions will have a positive impact on interstate relations.
Kosachev shared the president's opinion on the role of parliamentary diplomacy in interstate relations and noted that the desire of the top leadership and parliamentarians of Russia to support and develop the most active, open and meaningful contacts with Armenian partners.
