ArmInfo.Members of the US Congressional Committee on Armenian Issues Frank Pallone, Adam Schiff and Jim Costa issued a statement on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the pogroms of Armenians in the Azerbaijani cities of Sumgait, Baku and Kirovabad, reports the Armenian Assembly of America.
In particular, the statement of the congressmen reads: "On February 27, 1988, about 200 Armenians living in the Azerbaijani city of Sumgait were killed, raped, burned alive because of their nationality." For three decades, Azerbaijan has done everything to hide its crimes against humanity, and the organizers of the pogroms to be elevated to the rank of national heroes, "Frank Pallone said, assuring that he would continue to raise this issue in Congress.
Note that these days in the US there is a delegation headed by the President of Artsakh Bako Sahakyan. Within the framework of the visit, meetings with members of the Congress are planned to discuss issues related to strengthening the relations between Artsakh and the United States.
