ArmInfo.Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Karen Nazaryan took part in the annual meeting of senior officials of the European Union's Eastern Partnership (EaP) initiative.
According to the RA MFA press service, during his speech Nazaryan touched upon the importance of meetings in the format of senior officials in the new EaP structure, as a thematic platform and a structure coordinating working groups.
He informed that from the point of view of coordination of Armenia-EU relations, the necessary institutional mechanisms are working in the country, purposefully working to ensure the implementation of the framework agreement and other treaties. From this point of view, the Armenian diplomat noted the important role of civil society and youth, touched upon the role of the parliament, and in this context noted that Armenia is completing the process of transition to a parliamentary form of government.
Speaking about expectations and implementation of joint commitments, Nazaryan noted the need for proper presentation to the public. In this context, the Deputy Foreign Minister touched upon the importance of launching a dialogue on the liberalization of the visa regime, appreciating the support of the EU member states and cooperation.
On the same day, a discussion was held on the launch of the revised Eastern Partnership architecture. Nazaryan in his speech presented Armenia's approach to the principles underlying the revised architecture of the EaP, in particular, differentiation, inclusiveness and shared responsibility.
Reacting to the statement of the Azerbaijani side that the problems with human rights and freedoms are conditioned by the country's being in a state of war, Nazaryan called unacceptable the failure to comply with international commitments, and called on the Azerbaijani authorities to prepare the people for peace, to renounce the use of force and violent management, which contradict the principles democracy and stability.
