ArmInfo.Cooperation between Armenia and Russia in the interparliamentary format has both a strategic and a global character. This was stated by the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee Armen Ashotyan at a joint meeting of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Federal Assembly on March 13.
Ashotyan stressed the fact that such meetings between the two countries have already become traditional and are held twice a year in the capitals of the two states. Also, the chairman of the permanent commission of the National Assembly for External Relations noted that the visit of Russian parliamentarians promotes the development of relations between the two commissions. "During this meeting we will discuss the most important issues of the Armenian-Russian cooperation, which are on the agenda," Ashotyan said.
In turn, the head of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Konstantin Kosachev noted that the Armenian-Russian relations have long gone beyond the protocol parliamentary dialogue. "In the course of our joint meeting, we will discuss topical issues of interest to both sides, previously these meetings were held twice a year, but now we have added a new format, which is necessary for a more in- depth study of existing problems," Kosachev said. The head of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs also stressed the fact that such meetings and meetings between parliamentarians are very productive and effective. "Armenian-Russian cooperation requires its development also at the structural level, in particular, we mean the EAEU.Our cooperation within this framework is very important and requires constant attention both from the Russian and Armenian parliamentarians," Kosachev said, adding that the parties will also discuss cooperation in 7 parliamentary structures, such as PACE. This morning the delegation of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation headed by Chairman Konstantin Kosachev, accompanied by Armen Ashotyan, visited the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex. Members of the delegation laid a wreath at the memorial to the victims of the Armenian Genocide, visited the Museum-Institute of the Armenian Genocide and got acquainted with the exposition.
