ArmInfo. The Speaker of the National Assembly Ara Babloyan received the newly appointed Polish Ambassador to Armenia Pavel Cheplak on March 12. As the press service of the Parliament reports, the chairman of the National Assembly wished success to the Ambassador and expressed hope that he will contribute to the development of the Armenian-Polish political, economic and humanitarian ties.
Ara Babloyan touched upon his visit to Poland last year, thanking the Polish people and the Polish authorities for the centuries old warm attitude to the Armenian people, and especially to the Armenians living in Poland. The head of the parliament noted with satisfaction: "The Armenians have received special attention in connection with fidelity, diligence and special attitude towards Poland. We are proud that this attitude towards the Armenian community is expressed, and today many representatives of our nation are worthy citizens of Poland," the speaker said.
The Chairman of the Parliament noted the importance of developing inter-parliamentary relations, stressing the role of mutual visits and the activation of parliamentary friendship groups in this issue.
Ara Babloyan touched upon the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, saying that this problem can only be solved by peaceful negotiations under the leadership of the OSCE Minsk Group.
In turn, Pavel Cheplak noted that Poland is interested in developing and deepening political, economic and cultural ties with Armenia. The Ambassador stressed the importance of not only steps to deepen economic, but also cultural ties, as well as presented the programs and events that he intends to organize in the near future at the Polish Embassy.
The ambassador also presented the procedure for ratifying the Armenia-EU agreement in Poland to the President of the National Assembly. He expressed hope that the agreement will be ratified by the end of the year.
