A little less than half of Armenia's population believes that the current high level of Armenian-Russian relations is conditioned by the personalities of the presidents of the two countries, Serzh Sargsyan and Vladimir Putin. These are the results of the poll "The current electoral processes in Armenia and Russia through the eyes of the Armenian society" conducted by the public club "The Voice of the People."

 

According to the expert of the club Arman Ghukasyan at the presentation of the research on February 20 in Yerevan, the survey was conducted in the capital and in all regions of the republic among different age categories. The poll involved 1000 people, the error of the survey was 1, 2%.

Thus, 28% of respondents believe that the current high level of Armenian-Russian allied relations is due to geopolitical benefits, 37% of respondents associate this with the personalities of the presidents of Armenia and Russia, 12% - the historical proximity of two peoples, another 23% are associated with the large Armenian community of Russia.

At the same time, according to the poll, 39% of respondents are convinced that Putin's re-election to the post of head of the Russian Federation will contribute to regional security, 28% - to economic prosperity, 32% of respondents believe that Putin's tenure as head of state ensures the well-being of the Armenian community, 1% are convinced that the personality factor has no value.

It is noteworthy that 44% of Armenian citizens are convinced that Sargsyan's stay at the head of state provides the Russian foreign policy, 52% believe that this fact affects the active membership of the RA in such integration projects as the Eurasian Economic Union and the CSTO, and 4% believe that in no way affect.
