ArmInfo. "We have been actively fighting corruption since 2017. I want to note that the sphere of fighting corruption is not an area in which results are immediately visible, however, they will become obvious soon", - stated on February 20 at the press- Minister of Justice David Harutyunyan in Yerevan.
He believes that one of the greatest achievements in the anti-corruption sphere is the creation of a special commission that is engaged in checking data on property and declarations of state officials and officials, as well as their relatives. In addition, the institution of informants plays an important role in the anti- corruption struggle, even despite the public's negative attitude towards this structure. "We took steps and created an electronic system where every person can leave information about corrupt transactions anonymously, I should note that now in our program there is a clause about the protection of informants," the minister stressed. Another measure in the fight against corruption, according to Harutyunyan, is the expansion of the list of persons who are required to submit a declaration on property and income.
Another effective step in the direction of fighting corruption, according to Harutyunyan, is the restriction of cash transactions by high-ranking officials. "Despite the fact that we have taken a number of measures to eradicate this heinous phenomenon, sometimes dishonest officials still found loopholes and illegally cashed through the implementation of cash transactions. Thus, limiting their capabilities, we can confidently note that our anti-corruption struggle has made another significant step forward, "Harutyunyan said.
"I also consider it very important to create a developed electronic system in state structures, the presence of which will significantly reduce corruption risks," David Harutyunyan said, adding that certain steps in this direction have already been taken. As for the point of view that European structures are dissatisfied with the way corruption struggle develops in Armenia, Harutyunyan noted that this is a very one-sided view. "Recently, the European Union conducted a survey in the society about how much people trust the government and whether our anti-corruption struggle gives results. Thus, it became obvious that the level of trust in the government among the citizens of Armenia has significantly increased, therefore it became obvious to the EU that we are actively working in this direction, the figures do not lie, "the minister stressed. "We will see the results of measures taken to combat corruption in the near future," Harutyunyan assured.
