ArmInfo. Both sides participating in the brawl in the Council of Elders of Yerevan behaved in an inappropriately manner. This was stated on February 20 at a press conference by the Minister of Justice, Republican David Harutyunyan.
"As the Minister of Justice of Armenia, I condemn any actions involving elements of violence," he said, adding that it is not proper for a member of the Council of Elders to bring chemical banks with him to meetings, and it is not for men, to behave so rudely with a woman.
"Such behavior is unacceptable for our culture, and it remains to be hoped that such incidents will no longer take place in our society, let alone in the Yerevan Council of Elders," the Minister of Justice said. According to the politician, the main way out of any situation is to find a compromise through dialogue.
It should be noted that an extraordinary incident occurred in the Council of Elders of Yerevan on February 13. A member of the opposition Yerkir Tsirani party, Marina Khachatryan, brought a bank with a chemical substance to the meeting and tried to put it on the table of Taron Margaryan, who presides at the meeting. However, Markaryan, realizing the danger threatening him, ordered the members of the Republican Party faction to stop Khachatryan and to take a bank with a dangerous substance from her. Members of the Yerkir Tsirani fraction tried to prevent this, and they shouted that the deputies of the Council of Elders should breathe the same poisoned air as the residents of Yerevan breathe. As a result, men from the RPA faction attacked the women of the Yerkir Tsirani with their fists, inflicting beatings and slaps.
The members of the Yelq faction interfered in the case, and tried to separate the heated elders. After the incident, representatives of the Yerkir Tsirani party appealed to the law enforcement entities demanding to initiate a criminal investigation into the attack on its members by the representatives of the Republican Party.
