ArmInfo. Azeri Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov, during a meeting with the delegation headed by the special envoy of the European Union on the crisis in the South Caucasus and Georgia, Toivo Klaar, did not rule out a new war in the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
According to him, since the two armies stand opposite each other on the front line, it is possible that military operations can resume at any moment. APA reports quoting the Defense Ministry's website that during the meeting, at which issues related to the current situation on the front line were discussed, Hasanov stated that the negotiation process is still ineffective. The minister noted that instead of investigating the consequences of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, it would be better if the international structures, having made every effort to fully resolve the conflict, tackle the root causes of its emergence. In turn, Toivo Klaar noted the importance of an early and peaceful settlement of the conflict to ensure stability in the South Caucasus region, and stressed that the European Union supports continuation of the talks.
