ArmInfo. Armenia does not take practical steps to solve environmental problems. The Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan expressed opinion on February 15 during the government session.
The Prime Minister noted that the Ministry of Nature Protection presents quarterly a survey of the state of the environment, indicating data on the level of air pollution in populated areas, soil and water. Nevertheless, according to Karen Karapetyan, the studies do not contain an analysis of the causes of the problems fixed and their elimination. At the same time, the current legislation does not establish effective mechanisms to address these problems. In connection with the above, the Prime Minister instructed Artsvik Minasyan, Minister of Nature Protection of Armenia, to ensure, within a month, the analysis of the problems identified as a result of monitoring and possible solutions to them.
He also demanded that he submit proposals to the government apparatus regarding the tools that would ensure their implementation. Minister of Territorial Administration and Development David Lokyan was also instructed to take measures to reduce the monitoring of problems identified by the Ministry of Nature Protection and improve the environmental situation. As the head of government pointed out, it was early recorded that there are communities where from year to year the monitoring results from the Ministry of Nature Protection give the same conclusion. "However, the reasons and expected steps of the head of the community are not clear from the conclusion, so we fix the problem, do nothing to eliminate it, next time we fix this problem again. For this reason, Mr. Minasyan, we clearly formulate the actions," said Karapetyan.
