ArmInfo.Armen Ashotyan, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on Foreign Relations, met in Tbilisi on February 12 with the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the Georgian Parliament Sofio Katsarava. As the press service of the Parliament reports, during the meeting the priorities of the bilateral agenda, as well as the possibility of further strengthening the ties between the parliaments of Armenia and Georgia were discussed.
In this vein, it was also stressed the importance of intensifying cooperation on various international platforms, in particular, the revitalization of interaction within the PACE and the OSCE PA.
Turning to the prospects for the development of bilateral relations, Ashotyan noted that the Armenian- Georgian relations should not depend on relations with third parties. In this context, the chairman of the commission added that the Armenian-Georgian border should remain a belt of cooperation and friendship.
Ashotyan said that the Armenian side stresses the importance of strengthening partnership relations with Georgia at the parliamentary level.
The sides expressed readiness for more frequent meetings at the level of commissions, which will allow exchanging experience in a number of key areas, in particular economic development, democratic reforms, and Georgia's experience in integration with the EU.
