ArmInfo. On February 9, the Armenian parliament at the first reading made amendments to the law "On Ensuring Sanitary and Epidemiological Security of the Population" and a package of related laws. According to the Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia Sergey Khachatryan, a new inspection in the sphere of public health was created a year ago in Armenia. In order to regulate matters related to its further activities, it became necessary to amend the law "On Ensuring Sanitary and Epidemiological Safety of the Population" and 12 related laws. The task of the inspection will include the functions of ensuring the sanitary and epidemiological safety of the population, the development of sanitary rules, the organization of sanitary and hygienic measures to prevent infectious and other diseases, the promotion of hygiene standards, the conduct of sanitary and hygienic examinations, the health status survey, etc. The inspection function will also the task of maintaining state control over the state of water quality. Until now, the deputy minister continued, the inspection could not carry out its direct duties due to the lack of relevant legislation. With the adoption of the package, this problem will be solved.
