ArmInfo. European Court of Human Rights made another decision against Armenia on the claim of the current Ambassador of Armenia to Denmark Alexander Arzumanyan, of course, the claim was filed in 2007, when the plaintiff was not an ambassador, but was a radical oppositionist.
Arzumanyan, in particular, tried to appeal against the legality of his arrest in 2007, when he was the leader of the movement "Civil disobedience". The ECHR satisfied Arzumanyan's suit, ruling that in this case Armenia had violated Articles 3 and 5 of the European Convention on Human Rights. The court also ruled that the Republic of Armenia should pay Arzumanyan 2,500 euros because of violation of his legal rights.
Note, Arzumanyan was arrested in May 2007 on charges of money laundering.
