ArmInfo.he settlement of the Karabakh conflict will positively affect the situation in the South Caucasus region. The Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Rose Gottemoeller, announced this in Yerevan.
She expressed regret that the Karabakh conflict has not been settled for 25 years. "This is very important for Armenia and Azerbaijan for the implementation of joint projects," Gottemoeller said, expressing satisfaction with the fact of the meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani heads, as well as foreign ministers.
She also positively assessed the US's high involvement in the conflict resolution process as the Minsk co- chair along with Russia and France. On behalf of NATO, Gottemoeller expressed hope for the opening of a new stage in the Karabakh talks. "We promote the implementation of all international norms and principles, including the right of peoples to self-determination and the territorial integrity of states," she assured.
Speaking about Armenia-NATO relations, she assessed them as positive. "We have achieved a lot together, and I am grateful in this regard: Armenia is the first country that has consistently participated in peacekeeping missions in Kosovo and Afghanistan,".
