ArmInfo. On December 14, the delegation led by the Vice- Speaker of the National Assembly, the head of the Armenia-Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia friendship group Eduard Sharmazanov met with Deputy Foreign Minister of Lithuania Darius Skucevicius. Samvel Farmanian and Suren Manukyan are members of the delegation.
The meeting touched upon a number of issues on the Armenian-Lithuanian agenda and emphasized the role of parliamentary diplomacy in this regard. Turning to the Armenian-Lithuanian political and trade and economic ties, the sides expressed satisfaction with their activation and the existing significant potential in this area.
The interlocutors exchanged views on regional issues. "Turkey illegally blocks Armenia, which is reprehensible and unacceptable, moreover, the policy of denying the Turkish authorities not only does not contribute to regional stability, but, on the contrary, encourages Azerbaijan to pursue a militaristic policy." The NK problem must be solved exclusively by peaceful negotiation, in the format of the MG co- chairmanship OSCE. The citizens of Artsakh have as many rights to create an independent state, as much as from Lithuania and Armenia," Sharmazanov said.
During the meeting, issues of development of the Armenian-EU relations were also discussed. "The signing of the Agreement on a comprehensive and expanded partnership is a historical one," stressed the Deputy Foreign Minister of Lithuania.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Lithuania Tigran Mkrtchyan attended the meeting.
