ArmInfo. Cooperation of Armenia and Japan with the European Union can open new directions for Armenian-Japanese interaction. Such an opinion was expressed by the Japanese Ambassador to Armenia Eiji Taguchi at a press conference in Yerevan on December 11.
The Ambassador congratulated Armenia on signing an agreement on a comprehensive and expanded partnership with the European Union, and in this context informed that last week Japan and the EU signed a document on economic cooperation. "I believe that the existence of Armenia and Japan agreements on cooperation with the EU will allow Yerevan and Tokyo to identify new directions for cooperation," the ambassador said.
Touching upon Armenia's membership in the Eurasian Economic Union, Taguchi noted that Russia is one of the most important partners for Japan. "Japan has a direct access to the Russian market, therefore, Armenia's mediation in the interaction is not so relevant," the ambassador said.
At the same time, the diplomat stated that the Armenian youth knows both Russian and English languages, which is important from the point of view of attracting investments. "Armenia, which is a member of the EAEC and the EU, and has a youth well versed in terms of language knowledge, can be attractive to foreign investors and organizations, including from Japan, since the knowledge of languages in the modern world is very important," concluded Taguchi.
