ArmInfo.Minister of Nature Protection Artsvik Minasyan met with the project manager for the European countries' consolidation of the EU Water Initiative (EUWI +) Michael Suter.
According to the Nation Protection Ministry press service, the meeting was aimed at discussing details of starting EUWI+ project.
Minasyan noted during the meeting that the Armenian government, and in particular the Ministry of Nature Protection, is trying to achieve the best results in the field of water resources management, and in this context emphasized the importance of the EU assistance program aimed at this.
The Armenian Minister informed that other assistance programs are being implemented in the sphere and there is a need to combine them together to obtain higher results.
In his turn, the EUWI + project manager noted that the project is being implemented within the framework of the countries-members of the EU Eastern Partnership and is a continuation of previous projects. Previous projects were implemented by international consulting organizations that provided technical assistance, and in this case they are implemented by the member countries of the European Union. Highly appreciating the interaction with the Armenian side, Suter noted that at this stage the project is flexible and the budget envisaged can undergo changes, according to the needs of the country.
Minasyan, in turn, stated that Armenia is interested in the successful implementation of this project.
The project budget for 6 countries is 25 million euros. The financing will be provided by the EU, Austria and the French government. Armenia will be allocated about 1/6 of the total budget.
