ArmInfo. A grant program worth $ 129.6 thousand was signed between the Ministry of Nature Protection of Armenia and the United Nations Development Program, aimed at a phased replacement of the use of hydrochlorofluorocarbons.
The first stage of the program was implemented in 2010-2016, as a result of which the use of ozone- depleting substances in Armenia decreased by 15%. The second phase of the program will aim to reduce the use of these substances by 66.6% until 2020.
UNDP Deputy Assistant Representative for Armenia Dmitry Mariasin said during the signing ceremony that RA is a pioneer in reducing the use of ozone-depleting substances.
As a result of the implementation of the program, it is planned to equip four customs points with a view to preventing illegal trafficking in ozone-depleting substances. In addition, 25 specialized companies will be opened that will help to maintain refrigerating and air-conditioning devices with an ozone-safe route, ensuring the dual use of substances contained in these devices.
