ArmInfo."The year 2017 is one of the most important havens in the quarter-century history of Armenia-EU relations, which marks the signing of the Agreement on Comprehensive and In-depth Partnership between the Republic of Armenia and the EU within the framework of this summit," the Armenian President said at the Eastern Partnership summit in Brussels Serzh Sargsyan.
According to the president, the Agreement is a conceptual document that records the achievements of the republic and ways for their further deepening. "The agreement is not a purely legal document, but a reflection of the system of values based on the protection of human rights and freedoms that Armenia preaches." The document is based on the principles of the dominance of law, the strengthening of law, the development of state and public institutions, "said the president, that effective implementation of these provisions is of vital importance for Armenia in terms of ensuring its further development.
Thanking the EU for assisting Armenia along this path, the President stressed that the importance of the new agreement is not limited to Armenia-EU relations, but is of a conceptual nature in terms of its international relations. "The agreement on comprehensive and deep partnership between Armenia and the EU is a universal success for all of us and can become a precedent for cooperation in the implementation of other programs," the Armenian leader said.
According to him, the success of Armenia is largely due to its full implementation of all provisions of the Riga Eastern Partnership Summit of 2015. "I am confident that the determination of Armenia and our European partners in this process will lead to an even closer rapprochement between the RA and united Europe societies, which will be largely facilitated by the liberalization of the visa regime," he said.
He stressed that Armenia initially facilitated cooperation within the framework of the Eastern Partnership, being sure that this will lead to the disappearance of dividing lines between the peoples and development of the member countries. "We are confident that this summit will be an important stage in the Eastern Partnership program," Sargsyan said.
