ArmInfo. During the next telethon of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund, $ 12,505,456 was collected and promised, the Public Television of Armenia reported.
The TV Marathon is held annually in Los Angeles. Over 25 years of activity, Hayastan has implemented over 50,000 programs in Armenia and Artsakh with the total cost of more than $ 350 million thanks to 700,000 benefactors. Over 605 km of roads, 580 km of water pipelines, 149 km of gas pipelines, 70 km of electricity lines were built and repaired , 359 schools and kindergartens, 24 community centers, 500 houses and apartments, 75 medical institutions, 58 cultural and sports centers, 100 greenhouses, as well as 169 educational, cultural and scientific projects.
Hayastan All-Armenian Fund was founded in 1992. Its main task is the implementation of nationwide projects. The Fund's Board of Trustees, headed by the President of Armenia, includes authoritative representatives of the Armenian Diaspora from around the world. The Fund's resources are formed at the expense of annual charity telethons held in various countries of telephone and radio marathons, bike marathons, and also, thanks to the proceeds from charity dinners, concerts and exhibitions. Means are collected and due to postal and SMS transfers, as well as due to the left on behalf of the Foundation wills and targeted investments.
Since 1996, every year in Los Angeles, a telethon is broadcasted to the whole world. At this event, the amount collected during the year in Armenia, Artsakh and the Diaspora is reduced to one common account, a report is made to the donors. This action unites all Armenians around the solution of pressing problems. The funds raised at the telethon are sent for the implementation of large-scale programs of strategic importance approved by the annual meeting of the Board of Trustees.
