ArmInfo. Being with the worker visit to the Kingdom of Belgium, the President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, Brussels took part in the summit of the European People's Party (EPP), which is led by the EPP chairman Joseph Dol.
The Presidents of the European Council and the European Commission Donald Tusk and Jean- Claude Juncker, the chairman of the European Parliament Antonio Tayanii, the heads of state and government of the EU and the Eastern Partnership countries representing the EPP parties participate in the summit. Within the framework of the agenda, the summit participants discuss current issues of pan- European importance and the preparatory work of the Eastern Partnership summit, during which issues of further strengthening of cooperation in the sectors identified as priority at the Riga Summit 2015 will be discussed.
President Serzh Sargsyan delivered a speech at the summit, which touched upon the agenda of cooperation and the dynamics of the development of Armenia-EU relations, the importance of the issues discussed at the Brussels EPP and Eastern Partnership summits prepared for the signing of the Agreement on Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership between Armenia and the EU, , conducted in the direction of the development of inter-party cooperation. Noting that this year marks the fifth anniversary of the RPA membership in the EPP, Serzh Sargsyan noted that, despite a relatively short period of time, due to joint work, the RPA fully integrated into this European family.
The EPP's cooperation with the RPA, according to the President's assessment, has become one of the most important areas for participation in European politics for Armenia. Serzh Sargsyan considered it remarkable that in the resolution of the European Parliament on November 15 this year, Armenia is characterized as a country that successfully combines membership in the EAEU and participation in the EU neighborhood strategy. The President assured that Armenia will continue to be guided by this very formula of coexistence. President Sargsyan expressed the hope that tomorrow's discussions of the Eastern Partnership summit will be fruitful and it will be possible to make the overall initiative more focused, and the results will be more visible and tangible to the public.
