ArmInfo. On November 20, the President of the Republic of Artsakh Bako Sahakyan arrived in the French city of Alfoverville and took part in the solemn ceremony of signing the declaration of friendship between Alforville and the Artsakh town of Berdzor.
According to the press service of the head of the Artsakh state, in his speech Bako Sahakyan called signing the declaration a significant event for Artsakh from the political, legal and moral points of view, regarding this primarily as an important basis for strengthening and developing ties with a friendly country - France. "Cooperation with France and its administrative regions is one of the main directions of our foreign policy, and expanding the number and geography of sister cities, deepening ties with them is a key component of this policy," the Artsakh President stressed.
Bako Sahakyan noted that during the interaction with the city of Alfoverville there were many significant episodes, in particular, the visit to Artsakh of Mayor Luke Carvunas in September 2016, and a crowded rally in Alfoverville in support of Artsakh and against violence by Azerbaijan in the days of the April war. The President of the Republic of Artsakh noted that this demonstrated to the whole world the unacceptability of aggression for the civilized public. "We are grateful to all those who are near Artsakh, who are fighting for freedom and equality, for the protection of human rights and dignity." This is a bold and worthy behavior, "President Sahakyan said.
Bako Sahakyan stressed that if the organization of work is properly organized, cooperation between Alfoverville and Berdzor has promising prospects, while expressing confidence that joint efforts will manage to implement numerous programs.
