ArmInfo.On November 20 the 10th jubilee meeting of the Interparliamentary Commission on cooperation between the National Assembly of Armenia and the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus was held.
The Armenian Co-Chair of the MC, Vice Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov, in particular, noted that in recent years the Armenian-Belarusian cooperation has received new content, the parliamentarians of the Republic of Armenia and Belarus are actively cooperating within the framework of the CSTO PA, the IPA CIS and the OSCE PA. At the same time, as Sharmazanov noted, there are drawbacks; steps should be taken to ensure even greater activity, efficiency and coordination of work, in particular, to develop a clear position on sensitive issues for both countries, especially within the framework of the CSTO.
Referring to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the NA Vice Speaker noted that Armenia is a supporter of exclusively peaceful settlement of the conflict within the format of the OSCE Minsk Group co- chairmanship. "To ensure progress in the negotiations, the Armenian side rejects the military solution of the problem and condemns the belligerent rhetoric of Azerbaijan.To promote the process it is necessary to implement the Vienna, St. Petersburg and Geneva agreements." Artsakh declared its independence in accordance with the legislation of the USSR and has as many rights to build sovereign statehood, how much Belarus, Armenia and Azerbaijan, and our duty to protect this right, "the NA deputy speaker concluded.
