ArmInfo. The problems of families of persons missing as a result of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict continue to be the focus of attention of the Armenian Defense Ministry.
In this regard, the representatives of the Commission on Prisoners, Hostages and Missing Persons, led by the head of the group of the border office and cooperation with the state bodies of the Operations Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia, Colonel Samvel Asatryan, visited the Gegharkunik Region on November 18 and met relatives of the missing persons as a result of the Karabakh conflict . The meetings of the Commission with families of missing persons are of a permanent nature.
The delegation led by Asatryan held talks with the Deputy Governor of Gegharkunik Region Artashes Nikoyan. The parties discussed a wide range of issues related to the provision of social assistance to relatives of missing persons. In this regard, Nikoyan assured that the region's leadership is ready to provide all possible assistance in solving the problems related to the health of relatives of persons missing. He also informed that in the field of more than a year there is a commission to provide assistance in the field of health care for disabled soldiers and relatives of missing persons.
At the meeting with the relatives of the missing persons, the Commission representatives told about the aims of their visit, asked about the problems faced by the families and answered questions of concern to those concerned, which mainly concerned the sphere of health care and social assistance. Then, together with representatives of the Commission, the military doctors consulted those who needed it and gave relevant explanations on issues of concern to them. Doctors stressed that everyone who needs medical help can receive it in the framework of state orders in any regional medical center or, in the appropriate direction, in the capital's medical institutions.
In Gegharkunik region, 24 people are on the lists of persons missing as a result of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. According to the International Committee of the Red Cross, 4496 people (military and civil) are on the lists of missing persons as a result of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, 400 of the above-mentioned persons are registered in Armenia, the rest in Azerbaijan and Nagorno-Karabakh.
