ArmInfo. The planned signing of an agreement with the EU does not provide forcing Armenia to do anything, providing only an attitude. An international expert, ex- chairman of the parliamentary commission on foreign relations Hovhannes Igityan expressed such an opinion to ArmInfo.
On November 24, 2017 at the Brussels summit of the "Eastern Partnership" Armenia plans to sign a partnership document on the partnership with the EU, which was initialed on March 21 - the Agreement on Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership. The relevant talks were initiated by the Council of Foreign Ministers of the EU on October 12, 2015 in Luxembourg.
"Before the publication of the text of the agreement, Russian officials presented the document as aimed at losing Armenia's sovereignty, in reality there is nothing like this, any article of the document is bilateral, and Armenia will always be the initiator of any initiative." Accordingly, any cunning, attempt of Yerevan's imitation of reforms with the purpose of obtaining money from Brussels will only significantly complicate relations with the EU, "the expert is convinced.
According to Igityan, the Agreement with the EU emphasizes Armenia's development model, to which the EU is ready to contribute its own experience, consultations, and sometimes financing. The latter depends on Armenia's readiness to develop through real reform of the country. For example, if Armenia demonstrates a real desire to destroy corruption, there are legislative, subordinate and administrative tools for this. It is noteworthy that, in contrast to and not submitted to attention public association association texts (Association Agreement, AA) and the Agreement on a Deep and Comprehensive Free Zone trade (Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement, DCFTA),.
The agreement on a comprehensive and expanded partnership has already become public. The accent in the extensive 357-page document is put on the affirmation of justice, freedom, security in Armenia; reforming the Constitution and the judiciary; observance of human rights and fundamental freedoms, etc. All this is provided that the European Union participates in financing various projects in Armenia.
