ArmInfo. Declaring his agreement with the irreplaceability of Serzh Sargsyan in matters of security, Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, nevertheless, leaves Moscow with the possibility of drawing concessions from Sargsyan in the Moscow negotiations.
Director of the Armenian Center for Political and International Relations Aghasi Yenokyan expressed the opinion of ArmInfo. On November 15, President Serzh Sargsyan, at the invitation of the Russian President, went on a working visit to Russia, where he will meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
"I am convinced that Serzh Sargsyan's premiership is inevitable at least at this stage, but he still has to pay for it with concessions: in Artsakh issue, with new military concessions to Russia, another increase in Moscow's control over Armenian armaments, the next objects of the Armenian economy handed over to Armenian businessmen from Russia, it is possible that all this will be done even in the aggregate and the Armenian society will pay the Serzh Sargsyan's premiership, "Yenokyan stressed.
Political expert thinks that in the RPA, Karen Karapetyan has supporters trying to create issues and mechanisms in the ranks of the party through which Moscow will be able to get certain preferences from Serzh Sargsyan.
According to his estimates, at the same time, Armenia does not have tangible economic preferences from its alliance with Russia, in particular, membership in the EAEU. Yenokyan is convinced that in the Kremlin itself and in Yerevan, and almost everywhere, they perfectly understand that the EAEU is not a tool for the development of the economy, but for its destruction. Nevertheless, Russia is increasing its own influence in other countries by destroying their economies.
"Therefore, Serzh Sargsyan, when giving an interview about the importance and potential of the Unified Energy System, is only trying to present himself as an economic figure and thereby take this characteristics from Karen Karapetyan back." The true purpose, possibilities and influence of the EAEU on the Armenian economy are well known to him, summed up the political scientist
