ArmInfo. In the Moscow Victory Museum on November 10, the opening ceremony of the bust of Marshal of the Soviet Union Hovhannes Baghramyan was held on the occasion of his 120th birthday.
Officials from the Republic of Armenia attended the ceremony. Armenian Defense Minister Vigen Sargsyan headed the delegation. According to the press service of the Armenian Defense Ministry, Armenian sculptors Misak Melkonyan and Ashot Tadevosyan created the bust to the famous marshal. Bronze bust of Baghramyan is a gift of Armenia to the Russian Federation.

Hovhannes Baghramyan, an outstanding Soviet commander, twice Hero of the Soviet Union, holder of seven Orders of Lenin, Marshal of the Soviet Union, member of the CPSU Central Committee, was born on November 20 (December 2), 1897 in the village of Chardakhly, Elizavetpol province (Russian Empire). During the Great Patriotic War he commanded the forces of the First Baltic Front, at the beginning of the war he was deputy chief of staff of the South-Western Front, participated in the Kiev defensive operation, in the conduct of a counteroffensive under Rostov and Yelets offensive operation. In 1943, thanks to Bagramyan's courageous decision during the Orel operation, the fascists suffered a powerful blow to the flank. At the end of the war, Baghramyan commanded the actions of the First Baltic Front in the Vitebsk- Orsha operation, and then in the East Prussian operation, which resulted in the destruction of the Tilsit and Zemland enemy groups. Ivan Bagramyan - the last of the marshals, who commanded the fronts in the war. The memorial is called to recall the contribution of the republics of the USSR to the Great Victory.
