According to the director of the theatre Fred Davtyan, Alexander Samsonovich died October 31 in the hospital after a severe and prolonged illness at the 82nd year of life. The People's Artist of Armenia, Honored Artist of Russia, laureate of the International Prizes Stanislavskiy and Smoktunovskiy, Alexander Samsonovich Grigoryan was born on August 20, 1936 in Baku. At the age of 26 he became the chief director of the Smolensk Theater, in 28 the chief director of the Russian Stanislavsky Theater in Yerevan.
Thanks to Grigoryan the theater for a quarter of a century has an acting studio. On his initiative, for the first time in the history of the Yerevan Theater Institute in 2000, a Russian course of acting was opened. Within the framework of the Russian program of supporting Russian theaters, the performances of the "Prayer Prayer" and "Broken Chain" directed by the director Grigoryan with great success were on tour in 2005 in Moscow, Kaluga, Vladimir and Tula.
