ArmInfo. The return of Serzh Sargsyan to the Prime Minister`s post is almost inevitable, the founder of Armenian Institute of International Affairs and Security Styopa Safaryan expressed such opinion.
"Even if this does not happen in Sargsyan's presidential term in April 2018, it will inevitably happen afterwards, although it should be acknowledged that the scenario, voiced in the media, according to which Sargsyan will take the post of prime minister in April, and Karen Karapetyan his deputy seems most likely,"the analyst stressed.
According to the injection Zhamanak , Serzh Sargsyan and Karen Karapetyan came to a consensus on the personnel reshuffles scheduled for April 2018 after the expiration of the presidential term. In particular, the president doubted the ability of Karapetyan to conduct negotiations on Karabakh "because of the lack of a sufficient degree of political sabotage." In this regard, Karapetyan was offered to take up the post of vice- premier in April 2018, in charge of which will be the financial-economic and social blocks of the government. Sargsyan also intends to oversee political and security issues as a Prime Minister.
Noting that Sargsyan's deputies on the party leadership have already stated that he does not intend to leave the political game, but Karen Karapetyan has not yet managed to create his own political support, Safaryan said that in this context, he sees the future of the incumbent president in the prime minister's chair.
The analyst recalled that in the games for power, the opposition is virtually non-existent, and they go exclusively inside the government, which allows Serzh Sargsyan to solve the issue of the future Prime Minister almost individually.
Safaryan believes that even if the opposition manages to somehow consolidate in opposition to the authorities, it will be done solely for the purpose of bidding with the Sargsyan camp. However, according to his forecasts, even in this case, the incumbent president will not go to the bargaining with the opposition, since the ARFD in the government, "Prosperous Armenia" is not in government, but votes in parliament hand in hand with the Republicans, "Yelk" is extremely weak, and the existence The extra-parliamentary opposition is nominal.
In this regard, according to his estimates, theoretically, only force majeure can come to Sargsyan's premiership. However, the analyst does not see any internal prerequisites, as well as those external to force majeure, believing that, for example, the loyalty of Russia to Sargsyan has already been obtained by transferring practically all Yerevan's foreign policy functions to Moscow.
