ArmInfo. Soldiers of the anti-aircraft missile unit of the Russian military base of the Southern Military District (SDO) stationed in Armenia at the Kapustin Yar test range in the Astrakhan region began preparations for the combat firing of C-300V surface-to-air missile systems.
As head of the Southern Military District press service Vadim Astafyev told ArmInfo, on the eve of the beginning of the exercises with the military men, classes were held to repel attacks of air assault means, cover the most important facilities and control posts in Gyumri and Yerevan military garrisons, and defeat speedy small-sized targets on simulators. In addition, anti-aircraft gunners complied with the standards for deploying the complexes and bringing them into readiness for use.
Within a week, servicemen will hand over complex practical and theoretical tests and specifications for special, technical training to obtain admission to the conduct of the division tactical training and combat firing of the C-300V SAM. In tactical exercises, S-300V surface-to-air missiles carry out combat launches against targets that simulate the active actions of the conventional enemy at large and short ranges and altitudes.
In total, more than 150 servicemen and more than 50 military equipment were involved in the exercises.
