ArmInfo. In a modern world full of national and religious antagonisms, Canada is a vivid example of a multicultural and multi-confessional society, arguing that differences between peoples should not be a source of hostility, but rather a basis for a prosperous country.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Edward Nalbandian stated this at the events dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the Canadian Confederation.
"We, Armenians, know from our own experience that the noble ideas that are the basis of Canadian worldview are not just words." Canada was one of the first countries to help Armenian Genocide victims by accepting 109 Armenian orphans and giving them the chance to start a new life. This initiative, known as the "Noble Experiment of Canada", was one of the first humanitarian projects in connection with which Canada is now known all over the world .According to the Armenian Genocide both at the legislative and executive levels, Canada once again confirms "We highly appreciate the annual messages of the Prime Ministers of Canada on April 24 dedicated to the anniversary of the Genocide," Nalbandian said, adding that the concept of modern peacekeeping was proposed by former Canadian Prime Minister, brilliant diplomat and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Lester Pierson .
He stressed that Armenia also seeks to promote international peacekeeping operations and humanitarian missions and to prevent crimes against humanity. This creates a good basis for the Armenian-Canadian interaction in international formats. "I would like to make special mention of the successful cooperation between Armenia and Canada within the framework of the International Organization of La Francophonie." We highly appreciate the strong support of Canada at last year's summit of francophone countries in Madagascar in connection with the proposal to hold the 2018 summit in Yerevan, "the minister said, that the Armenian-Canadian relations will continue to develop in the spirit of friendship and cooperation, registering new impressive achievements.
