View from Baku: Geneva inspires hope for the dynamics in the  negotiations on Karabakh

ArmInfo.Geneva gives hope for  the dynamics in the negotiations on Karabakh. The head of the club of  political scientists "South Caucasus" (Baku) Ilgar Velizade expressed  similar opinion to ArmInfo.

"At the end of the meeting, Baku and Yerevan, of course, agreed to  intensify the negotiation process, however, Geneva did not record  radical changes in the positions of the parties, which is not  evidence of the most promising prospects for future difficulties in  the negotiation process, while the desire to prevent military actions  around Karabakh or otherwise will always influence the positions of  its parties, "Velizade stressed.

The Azerbaijani political scientist also noted the discrepancy  between the negotiation process and Baku's expectations of the  Armenian President's statements regarding the absence of alternative  to Nagorno- Karabakh outside of Azerbaijan. According to his  estimations, such statements are conditioned by the desire to  influence the respective positions of Yerevan in the negotiations and  creation of public opinion.  On October 16, following the results of  the Geneva meeting with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev,  Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan announced the absence of concrete  agreements on the resolution of the conflict, underscoring the  agreement on measures to reduce tension, in order to avoid victims on  the front line.

"Both the President of Azerbaijan and I are deeply interested in  this.He also understands the complexity problems, but the problem is  that there will never be an easy solution. For us there is no  solution, which in some measure can undermine security of Karabakh.  For us, the only solution is that Karabakh should not be part of  Azerbaijan. Never any Armenian leader can make such a decision and  implement it, so we will do everything while developing Armenia,  economically strengthening our country, "Sargsyan said.
