In the course of past exercises, the effectiveness of the developed algorithm for organizing the management of coalition and regional groupings in the course of accomplishing combat missions was tested; The practice is given to the commander, commanders, staffs of formations, military units, CSTO CRRF units, UTG during the preparation and conduct of hostilities; Field training of contingents was improved.
Military units and special forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the Joint Group of Forces have worked out common approaches to solving tasks to cover the state border, blocking and destroying enemy sabotage and illegal armed groups, freeing hostages, and eliminating camps for the training of militants. Collective forces of the CSTO member states worked closely together to combat tactics against illegal armed groups.
Motorized rifle, artillery, airborne and other units of the armed forces of the CSTO member states took part in the final of the practical actions. Together with them, airplanes and helicopters, units of national guards, police, and the Ministry of Emergency Situations operated. The units of electronic warfare, radiation, chemical and biological protection, engineer troops, communications and medical support ensured the success of the operation. Practical actions were attended by representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross with the fulfillment of humanitarian assistance tasks. Ambassadors of the CSTO member states, representatives of the military-diplomatic corps accredited in Armenia, representatives of international and regional organizations, and the media were present as observers.
More than 2,500 people were involved in the exercises, about 500 units of weapons and military equipment, including 25 aircraft.
In order to identify current problems in the CSTO collective security system and prepare proposals for its improvement, a research group consisting of representatives of five leading military educational institutions and two research organizations of the CSTO member states worked as part of the Joint Leadership Training Headquarters.
The next stage of the operational-strategic exercise "Combat Brotherhood-2017" will be held on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the task of post-conflict settlement in the course of the peacekeeping operation.
The Armenian Defense Minister monitored the exercise, the Chiefs of the General Staffs of Armenia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, the head of the Joint Staff of the CSTO. Note that the exercise "Interaction" is held since 2009. This exercise is the ninth in scope, and the second time in the territory of Armenia, was conducted earlier in 2012. The exercise is the final step in the resolution of the military conflict conducted within the framework of the operational-strategic exercise "Combat Brotherhood-2017".
The main goal of the joint exercise is to develop forms for joint planning and application of the Collective Rapid Response Forces of the CSTO and the Joint Group of Forces of the Armed Forces of Armenia and Russia under the overall leadership of the Joint Strategic Command of the Southern Military District of the RF Armed Forces. One of the most important goals of the stage is the improvement of the CSTO command and control system (Collective Forces).
