ArmInfo.A criminal case was filed against the organizers of the contest "Miss Armenia 2017" on Article 197 of the Criminal Code (illegal use of the trademark).
As reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, a representative of the NGO "National Agency Miss Armenia-Miss Armenia" received a signal that GoMar Harutyunyan, the Armenian Cultural Foundation "Miss Armenia" co-chaired by "Miss Armenia-1998" the trade mark "Miss Armenia - Miss Armenia" in September this year.
According to the organization, all legal rights to use this trademark belong to it. According to the representatives of the "National Agency Miss Armenia-Miss Armenia", the use of this trademark by another organization caused themserious material damage.
According to the report, the All Armenian Cultural Foundation "Miss Armenia" from the sale of tickets for the contest "Miss Armenia 2017", as well as from mobile voting during it received a big profit. After a five-year pause "Miss Armenia-1998" Gohar Harutyunyan decided to resume the "Miss Armenia" contest held in September this year. However, the NGO "National Agency Miss Armenia-Miss Armenia" initially stated that the tender is not legal, since the right to use the trademark "Miss Armenia" belongs to it.
By the way, this is not the only scandal connected with the contest "Miss Armenia 2017". Immediately after the competition, the company that gave the crown to the winner Lily Sargsyan took her away from her, motivating it that the organizers of the contest did not fulfill their promise and badly advertised the company. Article 197 of the RA Criminal Code. (illegal use of a trademark) provides for a fine of 300-500 times the minimum wage, or corrective labor for up to 2 years or arrest up to 2 months.
