ArmInfo. On October 21, Armenia will host the third national subbotnik. Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan announced this at a government meeting on October 12.
According to him, over the past few months, significant work has been done in the framework of the "Clean Armenia" program. In particular, two nationwide litter pick and two additional litter picks in Yerevan. As of October 3, 2017, Karen Karapetyan noted, out of 2,029 landfills, 1574 were cleared or mothballed. In all regions, appropriate commissions and working groups have been established.
The executive body also appointed those responsible for the implementation of the program. A draft law on garbage collection and sanitation was developed and presented to the National Assembly of Armenia, which regulates this sphere. The number of agreements on cleaning garbage with legal entities increased by 2 times, which amounted to 25% of all business entities, and the amount of payments for garbage collection increased, which, without taking Yerevan into account, amounted to 51.2%.
Despite the recorded results, however, the prime minister considered the situation with garbage collection far from ideal. He instructed the heads of the republican departments, the mayor of Yerevan and the heads of local communities in cooperation with the intergovernmental commission to consistently implement the provisions of the "Clean Armenia" program in accordance with the work plans. The Minister of Territorial Administration and Development was entrusted to ensure the successful holding of the third nationwide subbotnik. He demanded before the end of the year to ensure 100% conclusion of contracts with legal entities. The same thing, the prime minister said, concerns raising the level of fees for garbage collection.
It should be noted that the program "Pure Armenia" started on February 16, 2017.
