ArmInfo.On September 25 Ara Babloyan, the President of the National Assembly of Armenia, began an official visit to Georgia. The delegation headed by the Speaker of the Parliament, including the deputies of the National Assembly Armen Ashotyan, Armen Rustamyan, Vardevan Grigoryan and Lena Nazaryan, met with the Chairman of the Georgian Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze.
According to National Assembly press service, during the meeting, the Chairman of the Armenian Parliament thanked for the warm reception and noted that the official visit of the delegation of the Armenian parliament to Georgia would be a serious stimulus for further strengthening the interstate relations between the two countries, and especially the inter-parliamentary cooperation.
In particular, Babloyan stressed that from the first days of independence the Armenian authorities attached particular importance to the development and expansion of cooperation with Georgia. The head of parliament in his speech said: "In relationships, we have always been guided by a firm principle - there are no insoluble problems between us." He expressed the hope that effective cooperation will continue to be continued through the search for new ways to strengthen various contacts and maximize the use of existing capacities. Ara Babloyan suggested that the Georgian partner intensify the cooperation of the parliamentarians of the two countries in the format of mutual visits, joint discussions.
Speaking about the Georgian-Armenian relations, the Chairman of the Georgian Parliament noted that although this year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, however, the Armenian-Georgian friendship dates back centuries of history. Irakli Kobahidze assured: the position of all the parliamentary forces of Georgia is the same - the relations with the RA should be fraternal and all steps should be taken to maximize them. The head of the Georgian parliament presented in detail to his Armenian colleagues the main directions of the reforms being carried out in his country. The sides discussed issues of economic, social, cultural, educational and other spheres.
After the meeting, the Speaker of the Parliament Babloyan and the members of the parliamentary delegation visited the Heroes Square who fell for the territorial integrity of Georgia.
