ArmInfo. During the April fire in the territory of Khosrov Reserve, about 2200 hectares of territory were burnt. This figure has already been officially announced at a meeting of the Public Council under the Minister of Nature Protection of Armenia.
Aram Aghasyan, head of the nature reserve and management of the arboretum of the Agency for Management of Bioresources of the Ministry of Nature Protection of the Republic of Armenia, said that the flame often caused by the wind did not damage the root system of plants, and many cases of natural healing of grass and trees were registered 20 days after the fire.
Minister of Nature Protection Artsvik Minasyan presented the steps taken by the authorities during the disaster and the conclusions drawn, noting that one of the main shortcomings in fighting the fire was the lack of communication in the reserve, as reported during the discussions held at the meeting with the president and the prime minister Minister of Armenia. The RA President instructed to discuss this issue with Armenian telecom operators and solve this problem. Minasyan said that the mobile communication operator Viva Sell-MTS reacted to this request.
The Minister also stressed the need to purchase modern fire fighting equipment, in this direction hoping for the assistance of partner countries and donor organizations.
