Karo Paylan: only democratic Turkey can recognize the Armenian  Genocide

ArmInfo.Turkey will not become a democratic country, and the Kurdish issue will not find its solution without recognition of the Armenian Genocide by this country.  Armenian-Turkish MP Karo Paylan stated on the sidelines of the sixth Pan-Armenian forum "Armenia- Diaspora" on September 19 during the discussion on "Recognition of the Armenian Genocide, political and legal processes of genocide prevention".

According to the speaker, only a democratic Turkey will be able to  recognize the Armenian Genocide, open borders with Armenia.  Otherwise, we will have to wait for more than one 10-year  anniversary, noted Paylan. "Currently, Turkey is again experiencing a  dark period of its history, a crime of 102 years ago continues to  this day," the representative of the Turkish parliament said.

According to Karo Paylyan, for today the Turkish Republic is  increasingly moving away from democracy, experiencing regress in  relations with the EU, as evidenced also by the recently adopted  Basic Law of the country. "The Turkish Majlis has repeatedly stated  that the Armenian Genocide can repeat in the beginning of the 20th  century in case of adoption of the proposed Constitution, today we  are moving in this direction - after 100 years Turkey continues to  commit a crime," said Karo Paylan.

The Yerevan-Armenia Sports and Concert Complex named after Karen  Demirchyan is hosting the 6th Armenia-Diaspora Forum on September  18-20. The forum gathered more than 1800 participants of Armenian  origin from 71 countries. Within the framework of the forum, there  will be 3 plenary and 16 thematic sessions, cultural events. For the  first time in the work of the forum, four main areas were identified:  "The main tasks of the development of Armenia", "Features of  Armenia's defense policy in the current challenges", "Foreign policy  agenda" and "The main tasks of preserving the Armenians." To organize  work in these areas, the responsible departments are selected: the  Ministry of Defense, Foreign Affairs, International Economic  Integration and Reforms, as well as the Diaspora.
