ArmInfo.In Armenia, a separate plenipotentiary body will be dealing with issues of persons applying for political asylum. Corresponding amendments to the Law on  Political Asylum were adopted at the sitting of the Armenian parliament on September 13.

According to the First Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration  and Development Vache Terteryan, the government's proposal is based  on the provisions of the new Constitution of the country, according  to which the right to grant political asylum from the president of  the country should be transferred to the authority. The government of  the republic will determine the question of which specific department  will deal with this issue. In addition, the terms of consideration of  applications for political asylum from 10 days are extended to 30  days, during which it will be possible to examine applications in  detail. Moreover, many countries, including the European Union, issue  directives to extend the time for consideration of their documents by  their directives. 

Ordered and provisions that relate to appealing decisions. If at  present the appeal was considered by the president of the country,  then after the entry into force of the document, the judicial  authorities will take up this issue. Vache Terteryan also informed  that currently 1.2 thousand people applied for refugee status in  Armenia, 2.2 thousand people for a special status, and over 28  thousand for citizenship.
