ArmInfo. Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan for the year of his tenure as head of the Cabinet, he justified the expectations of the ruling Republican Party. This  was stated in the conversation with journalists by the Press Secretary of the RPA, Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Eduard Sharmazanov. According to him, in the case of effective work, it will be possible to implement a joint program of the Cabinet of Ministers and the RPA.

Answering to the question whether it is possible, in this case,  Karapetyan's reappointing as prime minister in April 2018, when the  republic will completely pass to the parliamentary form of  government, Sharmazanov noted: "The current functions of the Prime  Minister of Armenia cardinally differ from the functions of the head  of the Cabinet of 2018. Now the prime minister does not have the  functions of implementing the foreign policy vector, defense policy  and security strategy, he is more responsible for finance, economic  and social policies. Meanwhile, from April 2018, the primary  functions of the prime minister will include these spheres. "

To note, after Armenia's transition to a parliamentary form of  government and the expiration of the term of office of the president  of the country in April 2018, the republic will elect a new prime  minister who, according to the Basic Law, will become the country's  leader. Despite the fact that President Serzh Sargsyan promised not  to stand for the post of prime minister after the expiration of the  powers of the head of state, if the constitutional reforms are  adopted, on the sidelines the authorities do not exclude the  possibility that he will head the Cabinet in April 2018.
