ArmInfo.RA citizen Hrachya Harutyunyan, sentenced in Russia to 6 years and 9 months of imprisonment for an accident, as a result of which 18 people died, was extradited to Armenia on the eve. ArmInfo was informed about this in the press service of the Ministry of Justice of Armenia.
"Hrachya Harutyunia, convicted in Russia, was extradited to Armenia on July 20, 2012 in accordance with the European Convention of 1983 on the transfer of convicts to imprisonment for further serving their sentence," the ministry said.
It is noted that after the extradition, according to paragraph 10 of the said convention, the verdict of the foreign state court must be recognized in the RA authorized court, the charge is brought in line with the Criminal Code of Armenia, a certain punishment is left unchanged. The type of correctional institution and the place of punishment shall be determined by the Ministry of Justice of Armenia.
Recall, G. Harutyunyan in July 2013 was in a major accident in the territory of "new Moscow" on his truck, "KamAZ", resulting in the death of 18 people.
