ArmInfo.. OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs would be ready to accept a blitzkrieg from Azerbaijan on issue of Nagorno-Karabakh, Russian political expert Andranik Migranyan, the head of New York office of Institute of Democracy and Cooperation, is convinced.
According to him, it is no accident that during last April's war many states refrained from any actions or statements in connection with the aggravation of the situation at the zone of Karabakh conflict. "But when it became clear that the plan of Azerbaijan failed, and everything goes to the fact that a large-scale war is unleashing in the region, Russia stirred up, then statements were made by Paris and Washington, international structures, including OSCE, which made every effort to reduce tensions ", The expert said on July 20 at a press conference in Yerevan. At the same time he added that this is due to the fact that today the great powers are not interested in fomenting a new hotbed of confrontation, now in the South Caucasus.
Migranyan thinks that Azerbaijan will periodically resort to various ventures, but large-scale military operations at the conflict zone are unlikely.
At the same time, the political expert stated that after April hostilities along the entire perimeter of the contact line of the troops and Armenian-Azerbaijani state border, serious work is under way to strengthen and develop the front line.
At the same time, he agreed with thesis that United States, Russia and France do not exert proper pressure on Azerbaijan in order to exclude provocations similar to those of last year, moreover, no efforts are made by these states to sit down and agree on a ban on arms transfers to the region. Migranyan believes that the conflict of interests between the above mentioned powers is to blame. According to him, despite the fact that the mediators do not have contradictions on key issues, they do not have the tools of political influence to promote a particular issue.
