ArmInfo. Armenia has never refused to meet at a high level on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement. This was stated in the interview to the "R-evolution" program by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, answering the question whether the Armenian side had any expectations from the last meeting at the level of the Armenian and Azeri FMs in Brussels, and whether a meeting at the level of the heads of state.
The Armenian leader noted that a preliminary agreement was reached during the June visit of the mediators to the region. "They asked about our position on the summit. We said the following: "We have no special expectations from such meetings, since they have to prepare. And preliminary preparation assumes a position on specific proposals, which is not>. But, nevertheless, we are not against meetings and are ready to participate in them. Expectations from such meetings are not high. Such a meeting may take place in autumn, "Sargsyan said.
In Brussels, late July 11, a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, initiated by the co- chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, took place. The meeting continued discussions on the creation of appropriate conditions for the promotion of the negotiation process on the Karabakh settlement. Nalbandian especially stressed the need to stabilize the situation on the line of contact of troops, the implementation of the Vienna and St. Petersburg agreements. The mediators asked the ministers to convey to the presidents the proposal to organize a high-level summit this year. It was agreed to hold the next meeting of the Foreign Ministers in September on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
