ArmInfo.A thorough analysis of the processes, including around Russia, allows one to come to the conclusion that Moscow is preparing for a geopolitical retreat to new "defensive" lines with the goal of saving everything that can still be saved. An ex-NKR Foreign Minister, independent analyst Arman Melikyan expressed such an opinion to ArmInfo.
"Many people think the Kremlin is preparing for another military and political expansion in order to regain control of all that is left of the USSR, intending to build a new Russian empire, of course, without the Baltic states and most of Ukraine." I think this opinion is wrong within the consideration of ongoing reformatting of the political space of Eurasia, at least in the Middle East and in the post-Soviet countries, and this reformatting will take place at an accelerated pace, "he said.
The initiators of this global process, according to his estimates, are already engaged in the tactics of fragmenting individual states: Iraq, Libya, Syria into relatively small fragments. The analyst believes that the power centers that oppose global reformatting will try to slow the process of fragmentation. This will allow them to gain time necessary to adapt to new challenges and to ensure the possibility of subsequent absorption of some individual fragments that are the products of such disintegration. As an example, the analyst noted so far a poorly developed model of behavior in the maturing conditions of Russia around the Crimea and Donetsk with Lugansk. In the same context, Melikyan also considers Moscow's decision to grant Russian citizenship to all persons born in the territory of the USSR. The same purpose, in his opinion, will be the propaganda of imperial nostalgia for the Soviet Union, actively practiced by the Russian media.
