ArmInfo.Armenia welcomes the efforts of Russia and Korea to bring together the heads of the legislative bodies of the countries of Eurasia to discuss the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation. This was stated by the chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia Ara Babloyan on June 27 at the second meeting of the speakers of the parliaments of Eurasian countries "Development of interparliamentary cooperation in the interests of common prosperity of the countries of the Eurasian region".
This meeting is designed to unite representatives of different countries of the largest continent, which is home to more than 70% of the population of our planet. The Eurasian region has a high economic potential, is the birthplace of ancient cultures and civilizations. In this context, the political, cultural and economic diversity of the countries represented here creates a solid basis for solutions to the most pressing problems of regional development and security. In the XXI century. The role of parliamentary diplomacy in international relations has significantly increased, harmoniously complementing and even expanding the possibilities of traditional diplomacy. We parliamentarians are more free in their search for solutions to pressing issues and should play an important role in promoting regional cooperation and promoting constructive dialogue that will further strengthen confidence and mutual understanding among the peoples of Eurasia, " Armenian speaker said.
At the same time, he noted that today, when the world faces serious challenges, dialogue and cooperation are more important than ever. "We live in conditions of new crises and threats, we are witnessing the deepening of dividing lines. In the context of globalization, instability in one region can have consequences on a global scale. Therefore, we must unite our efforts to ensure stability and peace. Today, in Eurasia, diverse integration projects are actively developing. We are interested in their successful advancement. Dialogue and interaction between different integration associations can make an important contribution to the formation of a common space without dividing barriers. Armenia's membership in the Eurasian Economic Union has greatly expanded our economic and trade opportunities. We attach great importance to the development of cooperation of the EAEC with interested countries and key integration associations ready for real cooperation, "Babloyan said.
According to him, Armenia proceeds from the fact that membership in one integration community does not limit the possibility of cooperation between countries with other integration structures, if such interaction does not contradict previous commitments.
He recalled that in 2016 Armenia received the status of a partner for dialogue in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. <We are also very interested in the project of the creation of the Economic belt of the Silk Road initiated by China. This year we are going to sign a new legal basis for our relations with the European Union - the Agreement on Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership, "the parliamentarian said.
