ArmInfo. The latest violations of the ceasefire regime on the contact line of the Karabakh-Azerbaijani troops, which led to numerous victims, apparently remind that the status quo is not viable. This is stated in the statement of the EU in connection with the aggravation of the situation in the zone of the Karabakh conflict, received in ArmInfo.
"Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan have repeatedly stated their commitment to the obligations to maintain the ceasefire and a peaceful settlement of this conflict. The EU expects a reduction in tension and restraint, both in actions and in statements. The European Union declares full support for the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, and joins the statement of the mediators on June 19 this year, which calls on the parties to discuss measures to reduce tension on the contact line and on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border, to resume meaningful negotiations, showing the necessary political Will and conscientiousness", the statement of the EU says.
To remind, on the eve of the visit of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs to Baku on the night of June 17-18, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces fired on the Karabakh positions from the heavy anti-tank grenade launchers, as a result of which 4 servicemen of the NKR DA were killed and three more seriously injured.
