ArmInfo. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko described six important tasks facing the Collective Security Treaty Organization at the present stage.
According to the press service of the head of Belarus, Lukashenko made a relevant statement on June 15 at a meeting with the secretaries of the security councils of the CSTO member states.
As the most important tasks, the Belarusian leader defined the coordination of foreign policy activities of the CSTO member states; Cooperation of the Organization with leading universal and regional international structures; Comprehensive strengthening of the military, military-technical, anti-crisis and peacekeeping capabilities of the CSTO. This is also countering international terrorism and combating illicit drug trafficking; Ensuring a stable migration environment; Improvement of the legal framework and mechanisms for interaction within the Organization.
Touching upon the problems in the CSTO region, Lukashenka noted that they must be resolved independently. "We would like to see the problems that we have ourselves solved at the table in Minsk, Moscow, Yerevan, in other cities of the CSTO countries, so that there will be no influence of any other states, groups or round tables. We can solve these problems in Karabakh, Transnistria and Ukraine, these are our problems, we must solve them without foreign interference," the head of state said.
At the same time, Lukashenka is sure that only by joint efforts of the country can they ensure the protection of their national interests. The President also commented on the statements on the possibility of settling the conflict in Ukraine without the Minsk format.
